When a ring becomes too tight or loose, "ring resizing" is something to consider.
At ADAM, skilled craftsmen carefully adjust the size according to the material and design.
In this issue, we will introduce what kind of rings can be resized and how it is processed.

Resizable rings
Basically,Items with metal certificates such as K18 gold or platinum (Pt950, Pt900, etc.)If it is, it can be resized.
If you bring it to us, we will check it, but if the material is unknown, there is a hallmark on the inside of the ring that indicates the purity of the gold, called a hallmark.

K18 is also described in this column.
In Japan, the notation often starts with K, such as K18, but overseas, (Au)750 is often used.
The 24th fraction is used in Japan, while the 1000th fraction is used overseas.
For this reason, foreign brands such as Tiffany & Co. use 750 instead of K18 for engraving.
in other words K18=750=75% This means that the gold in the
Other 25% can be mixed with other alloys to make it an easier gold to process.
Imprint (24 fraction) | Imprint (1000 fractions) |
K24 | 999.9 |
K22 | 916 |
K18 | 750 |
K14 | 585 |
K9 | 375 |
There is also another engraving called 14K, the so-called Ato K.
This is often seen in products from Asian countries other than Japan.
In addition, they are often not resizable,Rings made of SV (silver)Also,
A high-performance laser is available for resizing.
*Silver has a high thermal conductivity, so rings with stones are especially difficult to resize.
If you are not sure if we can resize it, you can send us a picture of it on line or by other means.
Rings that are difficult or impossible to resize
The following types of rings may be difficult or refused for resizing:
- A design in which diamonds or other gemstones are set more than halfway around the ring.
- Rings made of special materials such as stainless steel, resin processing, and special structures

There is a high risk that the stone may come off or break when resizing such rings, and we may refuse to resize such rings in order to prioritize safety.
The final decision will be made after seeing the actual product,

How to Resize a Ring|Cutting and Welding
Resizing a ring is basicallyOnce the ring is cut, metal is added or shaved to the desired size, and then welded again.method.
The difference in the inner circumference of No. 1 is about 1 mm. This is very precise work.
Different materials have different melting points and require temperature control accordingly:
- Melting point of K18 gold: approx. 1,064°C
- Melting point of platinum: approx. 1,768°C
ADAM's craftsmen, who are well versed in the characteristics of the material, carefully finish the work in such a way that it is hardly noticeable.
You can read more about ring resizing here.
Please do not worry in such cases.
Can be elliptical
Rings with a lot of gems on the top are to avoid the risk of stones coming off.
The ring may become slightly oval after resizing.
However, the shape of the finger itself is not a regular circle either. There is little or no discomfort when wearing the product, and there are no problems with use.

Colors of welds may vary.
When a ring made of low purity gold such as 14K is welded with K18, ,
Only the welds may be slightly different in color.
Most people do not mind it as long as they are using it because the welding point is on the palm side of the hand.
Plating processing is also available.
WG (white gold) rings are often plated.
The plating is removed during resizing, but it can be re-plated.
Rings purchased at other stores are also resizable.
